Here we have Baby Girl. The folks at the shelter called her Mrs. Potts. Nine years old and just as sweet as can be. Those soulful eyes show you she has a story to tell. One look at her and all you have are questions. How could someone….? Why? But, it doesn’t really matter. She is safe and she realizes that now. It took a few days when she first arrived. She was afraid and did not care for foster dad, at all. Now, they are best buds. Over the past few weeks she has settled in nicely. Like most dogs she loves routine. She’s met some new people and has accepted them quickly. All you have to do is let her get to know you first and not rush to touch her. Once she’s comfortable you can give her all the love you want to.

She is good with other dogs and cats. She will only go to a home with older children. Loud noises scare her. She likes going on her daily walks. Her pace is slow and steady. The vacuum scares her. She’s afraid you are going to bump her with it and she’ll run in fear. She most likely has some arthritis going on, so she’s on over-the-counter joint supplements. She likes to play with her squeaky toys and seems happy and content playing in the yard with the other dogs. She has been on an antibiotic for a bladder infection and we will do follow up vet work next week.

6/13 Update   Terrific news! Baby Girl’s blood work and urinalysis looked great, so she is ready to go to her forever home. Over the past few weeks she has met several new people and dogs and did very well. She is really good with cats too. She walks easily on a leash and she sleeps happily on her memory foam bed at night. She hasn’t even tried to get up on the furniture. Nail trims are something she is not willing to do, so we leave that and ear cleanings to the professionals. Other than that, she’s been no trouble at all. She’s fit right in and has become one of the pack.

8/18 Update Not much new to report. Baby Girl is still looking for her forever home. She has settled in nicely and is enjoying a quiet lifestyle. She enjoys going for walks in the neighborhood and golf cart rides. She lost a few pounds since we got her and she’s looking really good. Her eyes are bright, her coat is shiny, no lumps or bumps that you typically see on older dogs. She’s never had heartworms and it appears as though she was spayed early in life before having any puppies. She’s quite a talker and she’ll let you know when she needs to go out to potty. She’ll also let you know when it’s time to eat, when it’s time for a snack and when it’s time for a walk! No need for an alarm clock with Baby Girl around!
