Memorials for Boxers who are now at the Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called the Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

The loss of a pet is extremely difficult. Our fur babies spend their lives giving us unconditional love. When a pet becomes seriously ill or passes away, we can take comfort in knowing he or she has gone to a happy, warm place called the Rainbow Bridge.
Carolina Boxer Rescue feels deeply for you in your time of grief. If you would like to add a lost pet to our Memorial, please fill out a Memorial Form. Becca 6/12/99 - 4/22/08
Becca was a sweet girl who came into rescue in 2004. She is the image of what rescue is all about. When she arrived, she was so overweight that she could barely walk. She looked like an overstuffed sausage, and she suffered frequent seizures. Thanks to the love, kindness and patience of The Nye Family, she was brought back to good health. Her foster family even got her seizures under control with medication and her weight back to normal.
Having poured so much of their hearts into this special girl, the Nye's went on to adopt Becca. This lucky girl knew the "good life" in her final years. She crossed to the Rainbow Bridge on April 22 where she can run and play with those who have gone before her.
“Ramona” Marie Eakins
02-14-98 – 05-03-08
My sweet little girl will be missed so very much. Ramona attended school with me at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I did not like school, but she was my “rock” that helped me survive. She was born on Valentine’s Day, which was so appropriate because she was a symbol of love. She loved to jump and play and was the greatest companion that anyone could ever ask for. She loved going everywhere with me, and I enjoyed her company. She always knew how to put a smile on my face. During the last year of her life she lost control of her back legs. This, however, did not stop her from being her normal loving self. She was very protective of my infant son and always let him play with her. They had a unique bond. She has been there for me through lots of hard times. God blessed me with the very best when he sent Ramona into my life. To me she has always been an angel, but now she has wings. Ramona is resting in peace now and is still looking after me and my son James. I love you Ramona and I miss you so much.
Love your mother,
Lisa
A special thanks goes out to Ramona’s veterinarian at College Road Animal Hospital, Dr. Katie Wagner. She was so good to Ramona and always took excellent care of her. Thank you so much. You are a true blessing.

Buddy: 07/29/2000 - 05/01/2008
I adopted Buddy on July 29, 2004 and that became his birthday. My vet estimated his age to be around 4. He touched my life in such a way that I can’t even begin to describe. He saved my soul. He was my best friend. There wasn’t a day go by that he didn’t let me know how much he loved me. I adopted him on a Thursday night so I took Friday off so he wouldn’t be alone his first couple of days in our home. Thursday night he slept in the floor at the foot of our bed, my female Boxer just hovered over him all night. Every time he would move she would growl. Needless to say we didn’t get much sleep so on Friday afternoon I laid down in the floor next to him and just started to rub him on his side. We both fell asleep. I don’t know what I did while we were asleep but when we woke up he let me know that he was my dog and I was his master. You will always be in my heart and soul. All my other dogs have the key to my heart but Buddy had the key to my soul. I miss you Buddy, I miss you so much it hurts.
We miss and love you Buddy.... Robert, Katrina, and Morgan

There are no words that can describe Gabe Gannett. He was the kindest, most gentle soul to ever walk the earth. Everyone who met Gabe loved Gabe and it was easy to understand why. He was truly perfect. Gabe was our first rescue, coming to live with us in May 2004. Undemanding, quiet, loving, and happy, Gabe thought that everyday was Christmas. Gabe just wanted to be with us, no matter where we were going or what we were doing. He loved to ride in the car, his long ears and floppy chops blowing in the breeze and he loved to run on the beach. There will be other dogs, but there will never be another Gabe.
Gabe...We will miss you so much, not a day will go by that we won't think of you and wish you were here. We love you Moose.

May 8, 1997-June 8, 2008
Duchess was born May 8, 1997. We got her when she was six weeks old. She belonged to our son and daughter, but when they both married and moved out, she became our baby. We loved her very much and she was very protective of us and the grandchildren when they came. She loved to go camping with us and we took her almost everywhere we went for as long as she was able. She had mulpiple health problems that worsened as she grew older. With a lot of care, love and a good vet, she lived to be eleven years old. She finally gave up on June 9, 2008. She will always be remembered with love.
Jiggs
Jiggs is now running across the Bridge with a full belly. He is no longer whining because he can't get enough to eat and he's playing with all of those who have gone before him.

ever abused or neglected. I make this donation in honor

REX
Rex came into rescue in September 2008 and quickly stole the heart of his foster mom, Diane! Rex was a sweet, happy boy - he loved to play with his fur brothers and sisters and cuddle with his foster mom! Rex had heartworms and began treatment in October. Several days after his treatment, it was clear that Rex wasn't doing well. The vet wasn't able to save Rex and it was later discovered that Rex died of a pulmonary embolism. As the heartworms began to die from the treatment, they left the heart, entered the bloodstream and blocked the arteries in the lungs.
Heartworm disease is so easily preventable with an inexpensive, monthly pill! Please remember to do this for your dogs!!
CBR thanks Rex's foster mom, Diane for loving and caring for him during the time he was in rescue.
Molly on the right with Felix
MOLLY
02/09/1999 - 10/19/2008
Once in a person's lifetime, a certain pet will come along that totally changes someone's life. Molly was that special one to me. Her coat held the many tears that were shed over the death of my son, the breakup of my marriage, the death of my parents, as well as the other many heartbreaks I endured over her 10 yrs of being with me. She helped guide many a stray foster dog onto the right path and helped them find their forever homes. She was always there beside me, as my pillow, my comforter and most of all, as my friend. I will never forget her and even as the pain dulls in my chest, I know that she is now free of the pain that she held inside her to the very end. Gone but not forgotten, as I know that now my son in Heaven has a protector, and that protector is Molly until I can one day meet them both again on the Other Side.
CAPTAIN
CBR Mascot from September 11, 2008 until November 2008
It is with sadness that CBR reports Captain has crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge . Normally, he could go potty on his own and walk back inside. He always seemed lost but with encouragement (and sometimes a leash!) he made it back in. Perhaps his vision was very poor. However, for the past few weeks he could no longer walk and was being carried outside daily. And he is a heavy dog! Finally he began to howl at night. Something was terribly wrong. The vet looked him over and just determined that he wasn’t walking because he was just so old and tired. His body was failing him. All the girls loved him…Lexie (non foster dog), Haley and Kelani always sniffed him and helped him find his way back inside to his soft bed. They even patiently waited for him to finish eating before they licked his bowl behind him!
His foster mom is glad he had just over two months living in her home! He was pulled Sept 11, from the Onslow NC shelter…on the night before his euthanasia. He slept indoors, on a soft warm bed for the last two months of his life. He had proper vet care, good nutrition, and love. Rest in Peace Captain.

Ben Vannoy
December 27, 2006
Ben is dearly missed, even two years after his death. I've never
met a sweeter, more gentle dog. He was our child before we had skin kids and when the first skin kid came, Ben was so wonderful with him. Something about Ben was so special that we bonded more than I ever have with another dog. I think he appreciated being rescued and knew he was finally truly and deeply loved. I really feel like he was my once-in-a-lifetime dog.
Ben was a true friend and is thought of and sorely missed every single day.
