Foster Dog of the Month: Jack
Meet sweet, sweet, happy Jack! It's not every day you meet a Boxer so happy he wags his tail in his sleep. Jack came to CBR underweight, with heart worms, and with a serious kidney infection. At his first vet visit, he only weighed 42lbs- his ideal weight is around 70lbs. Right as Jack began to turn the corner, and his happy, energetic personality emerged, he rapidly declined. Jack had a few days when his foster family wondered if he would make it. He spent a full week with the wonderful staff at VCA Wrightsville Beach. Even through this, Jack wagged his tail, and made sure to love on each family member that came to visit him.
Luckily, Jack pulled through. The staff at VCA was thrilled, but also sad to see him go. He quickly settled back in with his fur-brother, and 4 skin-siblings. While Jack does have a road of recovery ahead of him, his foster mom says he is so worth the time and resources. He wags his tail so hard, he sometimes gets himself in the face. No visitors enter their home without either a bark to let his family know, or an enthusiastic welcome to familiar faces (obviously, they came to visit just him).
He has also quickly learned important manners with his foster family- like no jumping. While Jack loves an energetic “hello” to guests, he also quickly settles back down- preferably in a nice cozy spot. He does love to counter surf, but as long as the goodies are out of reach, Jack is good to go. Jack loves children, and his youngest skin-sibling in 9 years old- their only complaint is that he doesn’t really understand “personal space.”
Jack loves the travel, and is a “go with the flow” kind of guy. His foster mom says his stand out trait is his happiness. Interested in helping Jack on his recovery journey? Donate here.
