ROSIE
June 30, 2010...  Rosie is still doing great!  She is the most gentle dog and is so sweet with our son (6 months old).  Rosie is housetrained and crate trained.  We typically do not crate her when we are out unless there is a chance of thunderstorms.  Rosie is SO afraid of storms.  We feel so bad for her this summer - it seems like we have had storms 3-4 nights a week.  We know she is safe in the crate and we typically put our male boxer in with her so she can snuggle up to him if a storm comes through (don't worry it's an enormous crate so they have plenty of room!).  Rosie listens very well, walks well on a leash and gets along with both male and female dogs as well as cats.  Rosie sleeps all night on her dog bed beside our bed.  If a storm comes through during the night she will jump on our bed and snuggle up to us, but in general she spends the night on her bed.  If you're looking for a loving, easy dog, then please consider Rosie!

January 10, 2010...  Rosie has been our foster dog for 4 months now.  She is a very well behaved dog.  She is house trained and crate trained but she does not need to be crated.  We leave her loose in the house when we are gone and she does fine.  She listens well to commands and walks well on a leash.  She is very sweet - loves all people, other dogs and cats.  We recently got to see how she does with children as we brought our new baby home.  She was wonderful with him - just a gentle sniff and then she lays down right beside his bouncy seat.  Rosie would make a great addition to any family!!

September 15, 2009...  Rosie has been in foster care for almost a year now.  She has had to switch foster homes due to her previous foster family moving.  So, Rosie has been in her new foster home for 3 weeks and is proving to be a GREAT girl!!  She gets along well with both the male and female boxers in her foster home and she gets along well with the cat.  She enjoys chasing him a little, but the cat chases her tail and eggs her on a little bit.  She is never aggressive towards him, just curious and playful.  Rosie is super sweet and so easy.  She knows her commands and walks so well on a leash.  I love taking her for walks!  She is house and crate trained.  She is crated while we are gone and sleeps on a dog bed in our room at night.

I know that many people would prefer to have a younger dog but I have to say that Rosie is such a joy and it is too bad that she is overlooked due to her age.  She is so easy.  She may be the easiest foster dog I have had.  She is such great company - she is always near me.  Walks with her are wonderful.  She listens well and never jumps up on people.  And, she is really beautiful.  She has such an athletic, lean body and a sweet face.  What can I say?  I just love her!!  I can't believe that she hasn't been adopted yet!

May 27, 2009...  Well, Rosie had a very eventful morning. She slipped out of her collar and ran away! Just about gave me a heart attack! Fortunately, she's safe and sound...animal control picked her up so...BIG RELIEF! Other than that, Rosie, Legend (my other Boxer), and I went to Knoxville, TN for Memorial Day weekend. That is a very long drive(about 6 hours) with two Boxers in the backseat but they were great! Rosie LOVES to ride in the car, she was perched on the center console the whole way, just looking at the mountains! She's a great girl, very sweet and laid back, but if given the chance...she will run away...and fast!

March 5, 2009...  Rosie’s leg is all healed!  The fur is almost all grown back too.   She has been doing great and has really adjusted to living with us.    She has become a very happy frisky girl, walks well on the leash, gets along just great with Max and Maggie, goes to her dog kennel on command and never has an accident.

January 13, 2009...  Rosie was in A LOT of pain for the first days after her surgery but, fortunately, this has begun to subside.  Occasionally she goes down the steps holding the rear leg up but overall seems to be doing well.  She has managed to find a way to lick at her leg incision even with the E collar on.  We have to watch her very closely!!  Despite this, Rosie's incision continues to look better every day!
PATHOLOGY REPORT:  Mass on rear leg was a Mast Cell Grade II with good margins.  Mouth tumor was benign.  No further treatment necessary at this time.

January 7, 2009....  Surgery Update: Dr. Hoover just called - Rosie did fine! She is out of surgery. The two masses (mast cell on her rear leg and another mass in her mouth) came off with no problem. The one in her mouth looked benign. While in there, they saw a tooth with the pulp exposed, so it was removed.  We will have to wait several days to hear the results of the path report.  Hopefully we will hear that the mast cell tumor was completely removed!!  We will continue to keep you posted on Rosie's progress.  Thank you again to everyone who donated to her care!
