December 19, 2011... Macy and my dog, Macheeta, play all day long. I also bring Macy to work with me when its not too busy. My coworker will bring her dog in as well. He and Macy love to play together!! Ive been thinking about trying to intorduce some new dogs to Macy one day at work to see if she can get along with someone else. Im hoping that with her living with my dog and going for play dates with my coworkers dog that she might be more open to meet another dog. But it will definitely have to be a male dog. Overalll, Macy is doing great! She is a happy, lovable girl who is learning to enjoy having doggie friends (of the male variety!!).
June 11, 2011... Macy is feeling great after completing her heartworm treatment. She was spayed last week and is recovering well from that, too. She's a happy girl -- very spirited and loving. She would still be better in a one-dog home, we think, but she may come around on making friends now that she has been spayed!
May 23, 2011... Macy is doing well in her foster home. She especially loves the kids and has made herself right at home. She wants to be in the center of the action and with her people all the time! She has completed her heartworm treatment and was a champ about the vet visits and medication. Macy is still wary of some other dogs; she is fine with some and not others. I'm hoping that after she is spayed, she may relax a little with other dogs. She also does not like being confined to a kennel, and she has perfected her Houdini escape act. She does well being left home alone as long as someone can let her out at lunchtime. She will just keep the couch warm for you until you get back.
January 10, 2011... Macy was a stray who had a fierce advocate at the shelter to find her a good home. They estimated she is about 3 years old. She's on the skinny side and is heartworm positive. She's been eating like a champ and is starting to fill out a little. She is a beautiful brindle girl. She always has her tongue out; it just doesn't seem to fit in her mouth! Macy is adjusting to life in a home very well. We've been working on her manners -- not grabbing food from the dinner table or kitchen counter, not jumping on people, etc. She is learning to "sit" on command. She is a sweet girl with a lot of love to share. She's great with children and loves to be around people. She's our shadow at home, following her people wherever we go. She is catching on quickly to going potty outside, and she's very quick about it when it's cold out! It takes a lot of coaxing and a little pushing to get her in her crate, but when she's in, she's fine. She naps and doesn't whine or bark. We're working on socializing her with other dogs. She gets along fine with some dogs, but she can be unfriendly toward some females. The shelter said she did not like cats so we haven't tried introducing her to any. She would do best in a cat-free home.
