August 11, 2009... Kai is a very happy boy. He is getting along great with his new foster dad and has learned very well how to get what he wants. Even though Kai's back legs are sore some of the time, this does not stop him from getting the pizza and potato chips off of the counter when no one is looking. He needs a little help to get up on the bed at night (yes, I said bed), but has no problems jumping off in the morning to go out. He continues to enjoy playing with his ball in the yard and just loves being around people. He would also, not turn down a ride if offered.
Kai remains the King of the home and likes being the only dog around. He is very sweet and knows most of the basic commands. A true pleasure to be around.
March 16, 2009... Kai is the most loving, obedient, well trained, energetic and intelligent dog I have ever owned. I am 82 years old and my family and I have had dogs all of those eighty-two years. I truly believe this is an exceptional dog. He had one owner for the nine years of his life which may explain one of the reasons he is so well trained and obedient. I cannot believe the owners would put him in the Charlotte Animal Control system where they informed me that if I didn't take Kai or if I took Kai and returned him, he would not be put up for adoption again. When I asked why the owners had given him up the Animal Control people said because they could no longer afford to feed him. He has been to the groomer since I have had him and the groomer was also impressed with him. She said I cleaned his ears, brushed his teeth and cut his nails and then he gave me two kisses. My vet who has seen Kai has him eating only one and a half cans of a good dog food twice a day. He is eating Blue Buffalo which has no corn, wheat or sugar in the recipe. Kai has been given a clean bill of health by my vet except for his teeth which just need to be cleaned.
